LAGOS EXPLAINS DELAY IN AYOBO-IYANA-PAJA-ROAD PROJECT



Lagos authorites have defended an indigenous construction firm, Messrs plycon Nigeria Limited for its inability to complete ayobo-iyana-ipaja road on schedule, saying that the delay was a result of pipelines buried by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on the corridors earmarked for the project.
Lagos official inspection of on- going work on the road, located in the Alimosho Local Government. The state’s Governor, Babatunde Fashola, accompanied by his deputy, (Mrs.) Adejoke Orelope Adefulire and commissioner for works and infrastructure, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said that two sets of four NNPC pipes were situated about 50 metre along the pipeline road. He said due to the inability to determine the depth of the pipes, which even several trip of state official to Abuja could not resolve, manual survey and digging had to be done to avoid and accidents that could cause explosion.
