LAGOS EXPLAINS DELAY IN AYOBO-IYANA-PAJA-ROAD PROJECT
Lagos authorites
have defended an indigenous construction firm, Messrs plycon Nigeria Limited
for its inability to complete ayobo-iyana-ipaja road on schedule, saying that
the delay was a result of pipelines buried by the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) on the corridors earmarked for the project.
Lagos official
inspection of on- going work on the road, located in the Alimosho Local
Government. The state’s Governor, Babatunde Fashola, accompanied by his deputy,
(Mrs.) Adejoke Orelope Adefulire and commissioner for works and infrastructure,
Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, said that two sets of four NNPC pipes were situated about
50 metre along the pipeline road. He said due to the inability to determine the
depth of the pipes, which even several trip of state official to Abuja could
not resolve, manual survey and digging had to be done to avoid and accidents
that could cause explosion.
