COALITION URGES FG TO INTENSIFY EFFORT ON GREEN ECONOMY

     

A non-government organization (NGO), Carbon pricing Leadership Coalition Nigeria (CPLC) has urged United Nations (UN) to impress on the Nigerian government the need to join the global move and overwhelming support for carbon-free economic paradigm. The association in a statement to the UN secretary General Ban ji-mon moon during his two-day visit to Nigeria noted that though the call may be tough for Nigeria being mono product economy dependent on fossil fuel revenue model, but that there was need to understand that as the world move steadily away from fossil-fueled development to renewable energy- led growth, with commitment and investments into solar, wind and other forms of clean technology, Nigeria might again be pushed into short-end of the development, if it does not take necessary steps.
